Reading skills

Off late I have discovered that my reading skills are very much below the mark. I'm not sure if I can read about 300-400 words a minute, the standard that most ppl say. I have to concentrate on this. All the while, I have been reading just for pleasure and so, never felt the crunch of time not the necessity of quick and comprehensive reading. Only after tasting a few setbacks at my passages have I really started thinking about fast reading. On this regard, I have browsed some sites and compiled a list of some good self-help sites.
